Franklin died peacefully on January 9, 2018, holding hands with her long time friend and companion, Larry Eugene Williams. Mrs. Franklin was born in Atlanta on January 7, 1927, to Hugh Inman Richardson and Frances Arnold Richardson, of Atlanta. Mrs. Franklin attended E.

Rivers kindergarten and elementary school, Washington Seminary, the Shipley School, and Sweet Briar College. In 1947 Mrs. Franklin married Clark Howell, of Atlanta. Mrs. Franklin was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta.

In her youth she was an avid tennis player. She served as President of the Atlanta Junior League. She was an early supporter of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. In 1980 Mrs. Franklin married her second husband, DeJongh Franklin, of Atlanta.

Mrs. Franklin is survived by children Clark Howell, Frances A. Howell, Hugh R. Howell, Margaret H. Scott, Josephine H.

Nelson, Andrew D. Franklin, Alice Franklin Hawk, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A small service for family members will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta. We know that Mimi is with Jesus. LEONARD, Ralph Age 55, of Covington, passed away Jan.

MOORE (Edwards), Dorothy Dorothy Edwards Moore, age 98, of Dunwoody passed away peacefully on Monday, January 1, 2018. She was born on August 16, 1919 in Penfield, Georgia to the late Thomas and Josephine Edwards.

After graduating from Bessie Tift College with a Bachelor's degree in English and a minor degree in French, she taught high school TriCities Funeral Home; BROOKS, Justin Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel; ROBERTS, Beverly Willie A Watkins Funeral Home; BEASLEY, Aldrich Willie A Watkins Funeral Home; BURNS, Cleveland in Fayetteville, Georgia and later in Thomaston, Georgia. Dorothy married her high school sweetheart, Hugh Campbell Moore, an Air Force officer, in Greensboro, Georgia in 1942. For the next thirty years, the family traveled and lived wherever Hugh Moore was stationed around the United States and Europe. Throughout her active life, Dorothy enjoyed garden clubs, Veritas Study Club, artwork, theater events, flower arranging, gourmet cooking, playing bridge, church activities, and vacationing with family. Dorothy Moore will always be cherished and remembered for her kindness, her Southern hospitality, her creativity, her sense of humor, sharp mind and persistence of life.

She was predeceased by her husband, Hugh Moore, her sister, Minnie Edwards Ash, and her brother, Thomas Edwards Jr. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Hugh Jr. and Sue Moore of Marietta, her daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Jim Teal of Marietta, and her daughter, Gail Moore of Atlanta. In addition, she is survived by five grandchildren: Greg Teal, Meredith Moore, Kelly Teal Sullivan, Jennifer Moore Kesser, Jeff Teal and five great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life church event will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 1:00 pm at St.

Subsequently, he earned his Bachelor of Sacred Theology degree and Master of Sacred Theology degree from Boston University School of Theology. Adams also studied at Harvard University and Union Theological Seminary.

As a seminary student, Adams was assigned to pastor Bethel A.M.E. Church in Lynn, MA. Upon graduating, he served on the teaching faculty at Payne Theological Seminary in Xenia, OH. In 1956, Adams was selected to serve as President of Paul Quinn College in Waco, TX. In 1972, Adams was elected the 87th Bishop of the African Methodist Episcopal Church after a prophetic ministry at First A.M.E.

Church in Seattle, WA and Grant A.M.E. Church in Los Angeles, CA. At the time of his retirement in 2004, Adams had served as Bishop of five separate Episcopal Districts, including his home district of South Carolina. He was Senior Bishop of the A.M.E. Church from 1 988 until his retirement.

Adams was a key leader of the civil rights movement in Seattle, and remained a forceful and eloquent advocate for social justice throughout his career. Adams served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees at the Interdenominational Theological Center, Allen University, Edward Waters College, Paul Quinn College and Morris Brown College. He served as transitional Chairman of the Board of Trustees at the Atlanta University Center. He founded and chaired the Congress of National Black Churches, Inc. Moreover, Bishop Adams was the initiator of Executive Management Training for Black Church Leaders and Chairman of the Institute of Church Administration and Management Board of Trustees.

He was active with the Joint Center on Political and Economic Studies, Transafrica, National Black United Fund, King Center Development Board, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity (Boule). Bishop Adams is survived by his wife, Dr. Dolly Desselle Adams of New Orleans, LA, and their three daughters son-in-law -Madelyn R. Adams, Dr. Jann H.

Adams, and Gaye Adams Mas-sey and Harold E. Massey. He also leaves eight grandchildren -Amina Desselle Massey, M. Gino Brogdon Jr. and his wife Melissa Brogdon, John Hurst Adams Brogdon, A.

Kamau Adams Massey, Malcolm Moses Adams Brogdon, Harrison Avery Adams Cobb, Timothy F. S. Cobb and Nyah Estelle Adams Massey. January 24, 1927 -January 14, 2018 Mrs. Mildred W. "WaWa" Adams, of McDonough, passed away 10 days from her 91st birthday at Mount Carmel Assisted Living. Mrs. Adams was born in Ellenwood, Georgia, January 24, 1927.

She is preceded in death her parents, Homer Lillie Pauline Carroll Woods, and her husband, Thomas R. Adams. Mrs. Adams' favorite activity in the evening was watching sports. She loved the GA Tech Yellow Jackets and the Atlanta Braves.

Mrs. Adams retired from Fulton Federal Savings and Loan Association. She is survived by daughter, Kim Hamlet, McDonough, Georgia; grandchildren and spouses, Cristi and Rich Schmeltz, Denver, Colorado, Michelle Thomas, Hampton, Georgia and Cody and Jordan Hamlet, Decatur, Georgia. Also surviving are several cousins and extended family. A visitation for Mildred W.

Adams will be on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 from 1 :00 pm until 2:00 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Holloway, William G. Holloway, and Eva Holloway Ford. John was born on January 21, 1928 in Norfolk, Va. He graduated from Maury High School(Norfolk) in 1946, and graduated from Harvard University in 1951. He spent 2 years in the U.S.

Army stationed in Korea. He joined General Adjustment Bureau(GAB) as an insurance adjuster in Norfolk in 1951. He was transferred from Norfolk, to Goldsboro, N.C., Richmond Atlanta, Ga. and New York City. Residing in Fair Haven N.J.

He was named President and COO of GAB in 1983 and retired in 1988. In 1990 he and Joan moved to Alpharetta, Ga. to be close to their children and grandchildren. He enjoyed a second home in Sea Pines in Hilton Head S.C. where he enjoyed memorable times with his family and friends.

While at Harvard John was a member of the SAE fraternity and the Hasty Pudding Club. He was on the Board of Directors of the Drug and Chemical Club in New York. In Alpharetta, he was a member of the Windward Association of Retired Men (WARM). He was a longtime member of Peachtree Road United Methodist Church. A memorial service will be held Thursday January 18 at 11:00 a.m.
