GARNER, Robert, Jr. Robert Athel Garner, Jr. of Atlanta died peacefully at home on Thursday, February 24, 2011. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Palma Kelley Garner. He is also survived by his sons, Robert A.

Garner, III of Atlanta, GA. Michael Kelley Garner of Suwanee, GA, his wife Stephanie and son Nicholas. Richard Murphy Garner of Cumming, GA, his wife Jodi, daughter Caroline and son Murphy. Christopher Lynn Garner of Atlanta, GA, his wife Carol and daughter Sarah. Phillip Andrew Garner of Cornelius, NC, his wife Sharon, son Andrew and daughter Emily.

He is also survived by his sister Mary Garner Manget of Duluth, GA and nieces Jeanne Manget, Diane Manget Stubbs, her husband Robert, and Lynn Manget Able. Mr. Garner was born in Atlanta on August 16, 1923, son of Robert A. Garner, Sr. and Beulah Elizabeth Murphy Garner.

He graduated from North Fulton High School and attended Emory University where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1943 and served as a pilot in the Pacific during the closing days of World War II. He and Pal were married in 1945 and after leaving the Navy he returned to school graduating from the University of Georgia. They lived in Millen, GA where their families owned the KelleyGarner Canning Company. They returned to Atlanta in 1961 where he was active in the floor covering industry for many years.

Bob was an original founding board member of the Decatur DeKalb YMCA Youth Soccer Program. He coached in this, the first youth soccer league in the Atlanta area, for many years opening this sport to thousands of local children and helping to make soccer the popular youth sport that it has become today. The family will receive visitors in the Parlor at Oak Grove United Methodist Church on Friday, March 4, 2011 from A graveside interment service will be on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at at Norcross City Cemetery (Buford Highway and Cemetery Street). (770) BRYANT, Albert C. Albert Carnett Bryant, 51, of Atlanta passed away February 28, 2011. He was born on October 13, 1959 in Coral Gables, FL. He was preceded in death by his father; Dr. James Bryant.

Surviving are his daughter, Jordan Lindsey Bryant; mother, Marion Carnett Bryant and brother, David Mixon Bryant. Also surviving are several aunts, uncles and cousins in Georgia and Florida. He graduated in 1978 from Lakeside High School in Decatur, DeKalb GA and was a 1981 graduate of Mercer University in Macon, GA. He was a flight attendant with Continental Air Lines for 2 years and was employed as an Audio Tech Engineer for GA World Congress Center by the state of Georgia for 24 years. As an accomplished guitar player he played in a band named Cypress with one of his closest high school friends, Ed Swinson.

He enjoyed ball room dancing and was a member of Second Ponce de Leon Baptist Church. A service to celebrate his life will be held Saturday, March 19, 2011 at 4 p.m. at Second Ponce de Leon Baptist Church with Dr. David Sapp officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Second Ponce de Leon Baptist Church.

Froelich, age 85, of Decatur, GA died on Monday, February 28, 201 1 He was born May 1 3, 1925 in Detroit, Ml. He joined the US Navy in 1942 and served in the South Pacific during WWII on board the light cruiser St. Louis, the aircraft carrier USS Franklin, and the USS Lexington. He was a member of Druid Hills Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon Elder, choir member and Sunday School Superintendant and teacher. He was a member of the Atlanta Elks Lodge, Masons, American Legion and Eagles.

Born with Down Syndrome at a time when children with developmental disabilities were routinely institutionalized, Laura was brought home and reared as normally as possible with the goal of allowing her to discover and achieve her maximum ability levels. While her parents worked tirelessly to provide new opportunities for her and other individuals with physical and mental challenges, Laura attended school and training programs and developed her very special personality. Laura's natural cheerfulness and ability to remember names and faces made her a welcome member in social situations. Laura loved to dance, enjoyed playing her guitar and singing to an audience, and was always ready to vamp for a camera. She was devoted to those she loved, whether a person or pet.

A very determined woman, Laura was not afraid of trying new things. Laura is survived by her brother David and his wife Pat; brother Mark's widow Pat Barnes-Brookshire; nephew Jeff and his family; nephew David and his family; as well as Patrick, her Jack Russell terrier. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 5, at 2 PM at Flat Creek Baptist Church, 161 Flat Creek Trail, Fayetteville, GA 30214. The family feels blessed that before his passing he was able to fulfill his life's dream of taking his family and grandchildren on a cruise. These wonderful memories and a lifetime of others provided by this amazing man will comfort the family through this difficult time. He was born May 30, 1933 in Sharon, PA to the late Reverend Andrew and Anna Hvizdak. Mr. Hvizdak attended Ohio University and after graduating served in the United States Army.

Upon completion of his service in the Army, he taught and coached high school in Ohio. After leaving his teaching position to pursue a Masters degree from Boston College, he was recruited by the FBI where he served for 22 years. After retiring from the Bureau, he worked for Delta Airlines in Corporate Security for 13 years. He had just recently helped found the King of Kings Lutheran Church in Jasper, GA. He was a man of faith who loved his Lord and family deeply.

Mr. Hvizdak is survived by his wife of 43 years, Helen Heard Hvizdak; his son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Dana Hvizdak of Roswell; his daughter and son-in-law, Kerri and Greg Weber of Marietta; his daughter, Cindy Hvizdak of Tampa, FL; his grandchildren, Jackson Hvizdak, Luke Hvizdak, Harrison Weber, and Hoi lis Weber; his 4 sisters and brother, Olga Abel, Irene Shestina, Anne Foelber, Ruth Secrest, and George Hvizdak. The family will receive friends Thursday, March 3rd from 6-8 pm at H.M.Patterson Son, Canton Hill Chapel in Marietta. The funeral service will be held at 11 am Friday, March 4th at Rivercliff Lutheran Church in Sandy Springs. Interment will follow at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton.

DUKES Edmund (Ed) Franklin Dukes of Perry, Georgia died Monday, February 28, 2011 in Macon, Georgia. He was born June 18, 1931 in Sanders-ville, Georgia to the late Mr. and Mrs. Roy 0. and Nellie H.

Dukes. He was preceded in death by a brother, Mr. Roy 0. Dukes, Jr. and a sister, Mrs.

Mary D. Paschel. An educator for over forty years, he started his career teaching in Jonesboro and later taught and coached in Houston and Bibb Counties, ending his career as a principal in Macon, Georgia. He received his undergraduate degree at Georgia Southern (Ga. Teachers College) and a Master's in History from Georgia College in Milledgeville.

He went on to earn a Master's certification in Educational Administration from the University of Georgia and a Specialist in Education from Georgia State University. He was a member of GAE, GAEL, BAE, Trinity United Methodist Church, the Georgia Bulldog Club, and a lifelong member of Houston Lake Country Club. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed following the Atlanta Braves, Georgia Bulldogs and PGA Golf. He is survived by his wife of fifty one years, Mary Lynn Hayes Dukes; daughters and sons-in-law Donna D. and Patrick C.

McPherson of Smyrna, Georgia; Diane D. and Charles H. Porch of Roswell, Georgia; daughters, Dr. Debra L. Dukes and Dena L.
